Honey Your First Year: Northern BeeKeeping with Double Nucleus/Resource Hives.
https://www.theactmatrixacademy.com/o... Check out the Mini-Hive Beekeeping Course Now This "Double Nucleus" method is my interpretation of Mike Palmer's work. Mike is a master beekeeper in northern Vermont. Double Nuc hives are also called "Resource" hives. We will begin by using two packages of bees to populate each side of the double nuc in April of 2019. Then we will use the resources from those colonies to quickly build up a production hive. We are increasing the odds that we will get honey the first year. If you want to follow along and do your own, here's a partial shopping list. Two packages of bees. Order these right away if you want bees for 2019. A double nucleus hive. I bought mine from Better Bee, but you can get assembled ones. By May you will want an 8 or 10-frame Langstroth hive for your honey production hive. If you are new to beekeeping, all of the online stores have packages of hats, veils, jackets, smokers, etc. to get you started. You may also find a local supplier for everything.
