Sri Lanka steam train travel on coastal line, railway trip Colombo - Galle, locomotive à vapeur 251

Farrail, a company specializing in heritage railway adventure trips, organized in February 2020 a journey in Sri Lanka. During the stay, the tour group travelled the Coastal line and the Main line on the tropical island. This film shows only some parts of the trip on the Coastal line, which partly runs directly at the beach and the sea of the Indian Ocean. The Beyer Peacock steam locomotive B1A 251 "Sir Thomas Maitland", built in 1928, of Sri Lanka Railways transports the steam train from Colombo to Galle and return. The focus of the recorded sequences is on the steam locomotive and its passenger train in a wonderful landscape. Visits of the tourist sights such as the fort in Galle, the Sea turtle hatchery & rescue Center in Urawatta or the beach in Hikkaduwa were omitted because the charter train only stopped on its ride for train crossing with or overtaking by regular passenger trains. Southbound, the train was beautifully staged in the sunlight. Northbound in backlight, it doesn't worth, but with the sun in your back you can enjoy the landscape with coconut trees and banana plants.
