Fauré plays Fauré ~ Nocturne No.7 Op.74 ~ Roll recording C.1910
We are very fortunate that Faure made a few piano rolls of his own works. Within these very rare documents, one can discern something of the composer himself playing. Here is the roll of his seventh Nocturne - a luminous interpretation of great intensity, demonstrating that although some have come near, few pianists past or present have ever played Faure's piano compositions so convincingly as the composer himself. Note the interesting rubato, especially those who may imagine the roll motor is jerky.
