Forestry remains the livelihood of the princely family, who live a very secluded life at Berleburg Castle and can look back on over 800 years of history. The fact that the family still resides in the Baroque castle is thanks to their intergenerational agreement: only those who manage the forest sustainably can preserve it as a means of survival for future generations.
