Transformations of Trig Graphs

In this video we look at not only graphing the basic sine and cosine functions, but also various transformations on the trig graphs. We'll look at how trigonometric transformations will impact the amplitude, the period and the principal axis when compared to the original parent trig function. If you have difficulty graphing transformations of trig graphs, then this is the video for you. We connect our ideas back to the parent functions, with a quick sketch of the sine and cosine graphs. And then we apply different transformations to the graphs, including vertical and horizontal stretches and horizontal and vertical shifts. We look at which transformations impact the x-values and which impact the y-values and find a method that makes it easier to graph the transformation of trig functions.
