Clashes between two groups of residents killed two people and resulted in dozens of houses being burned down by the mob. The riots raged from morning to evening, with both groups attacking each other using traditional weapons. The situation spiraled out of control until joint Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and Indonesian National Police (Polri) personnel intervened to disperse the crowd and secure residents at the scene of the clash.
