One Life to Live 2/12/1991

Gabrielle warns DuAnn not to breathe a word of their little transaction to anyone, especially Max. Max hears his name and wants to know why Gabrielle is once again talking about him behind his back. He is delighted to meet DuAnn, the midwife who brought him into the world, but Gabrielle tries to keep him from asking the woman too many questions. Max turns on her and asks if she is hiding something from him again. Jake tells Andy he’s doing fine, even though Hunter is trying to steal Megan from him. Jake goes into the kitchen to make a sandwich and no sooner is he out of sight than Megan enters the bar to talk to Andy. Andy is about to warn Megan that Jake is there, but Jake emerges from the kitchen before she can get the words out. Carlo is convinced his plan is working and he orders Chad to rewind the tape and play it again. Carlo taunts Viki using a microphone and a voice modulator. After the gunshot plays, Viki declares that Niki Smith will never take over again, because she is gone forever. Chad worries their deal will be off now that Carlo’s plan failed, but Carlo says nothing has changed and he will just have to use other methods to get what he wants. Tina and Cord ask CJ to help them name his baby sister, and he gets to hold the baby for the first time. Cord asks Max to be his Best Man again at a ceremony tomorrow. Jake and Megan jump right into arguing with each other. Andy tries to mediate, suggesting the two may have hurt each other, but they still love each other. Jake and Megan try to talk, and Jake is on the verge of admitting he still loves Megan when he gets an urgent call from Viki. DuAnn tries to extort further bribes from Gabrielle, but they are interrupted by Tina. Gabrielle tells Tina she rejected the $10,000 reward he offered for the information that helped Cord find her. Tina says she knows, and that Asa decided to donate the money to Outlook House in Gabrielle’s name instead. Andy advises Megan to take things slow with Hunter, which Megan notes is the exact advice Viki gave her. Jake meets up with Viki and she recounts what happened at the studio and Carlo’s clear intent to bring out Niki Smith. Though Carlo’s goal is clear, Jake and Viki try to figure out his motive. Jake thinks it’s getting too dangerous and he should take things from there, but Viki insists on continuing to aide him. Megan goes back to Llanfair and meets her new, as yet unnamed, cousin. Tina asks if Viki came back from the studio with her, but Megan says she didn’t have anyone call Viki to the set. Megan thinks that is very odd. She manages to get through to Viki at the Palace Hotel, and Viki says it was just a misunderstanding and everything is fine. Carlo tells Gabrielle she’s going to make Niki Smith reemerge. Gabrielle says it isn’t that simple to make Niki come out, but Carlo says he’s thought of that. He gives her a vile of Nat Olanov’s drug and tells her to slip it in Viki’s drink at Tina’s wedding tomorrow. Gabrielle says she needs something out of this partnership as well: a lot of money. Carlo says if she can administer the drug to Viki, money will not be a problem. He says by that time tomorrow, Niki will be their ally in the campaign against Viki.
