How Islamists Conquered Michigan’s Democratic Party | Jesse Arm | Tikvah Podcast

The Democratic Party has a problem. And Michigan is ground zero. In March of this year, a Hezbollah-inspired attacker drove a truck into a synagogue preschool in West Bloomfield, Michigan. Two weeks later, the Michigan Democratic party ousted a Jewish member of the University of Michigan Board of Regents and replaced him with an attorney who had praised Hezbollah on social media and referred to Jews as thieves. The leading Senate candidate, Abdul El-Sayed. responded to the synagogue attack by justifying it, saying that "hurt people do hurt people," referring to two of the attackers relatives, members of Hezbollah, that were killed in Israeli airstrikes. Meanwhile, the pro-Israel Senate candidate Haley Stevens was booed off the stage of a prominent party event. Jesse Arm grew up in West Bloomfield—the Jewish suburb outside Detroit—and has watched these developments closely. In this conversation with Jonathan Silver, he looks at Michigan as a test case of how radical Islamism can take over a local Democratic party.
