Sleeping Beauty (uncut); Gennady Rozhdestvensky & BBC Symphony Orchestra; 1979

1979 studio recording of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's "Sleeping Beauty". Prelude 00:00:00 Act I 00:32:38 Act II 01:07:53 Act III 01:51:41 Conductor: Gennady Rozhdestvensky BBC Symphony Orchestra Uploader's note: The prince's variation in Act III was obtained from a different, lower-quality audio source, as the higher quality files did not have it. The original vinyl had an official, even higher quality CD transfer once (judging from the samples at Internet Archive), but it seems to be unobtainable now. One hopes that will change eventually, as this particular transfer has some issues with distance, noise and small skips (not to mention the missing track). The original publisher was Eurodisc/Ariola Records, which was eventually absorbed into Sony Music. Samples of the CD transfer, released under BBC Artium, can be heard here: https://archive.org/details/cd_the-sl... I had been looking for this recording for a really long time, and obtaining it wouldn't have been possible without the help of another user who very, very, very kindly got the files for me to share here. If anybody else has this recording in better state, I'd very much appreciate if they shared it on this platform, too. As an aside, 1979-1980 is curiously jam-packed with great or interesting "Sleeping Beauty" recordings: Rozhdestvensky, Svetlanov, Fedotov, and Doráti's second attempt all happened in those years! I wonder whether the first launched everyone into a competition over the best, brand new Sleeping Beauty.
