Narrating the riverside way of life, Eliane Brum recounts the destruction and resistance during the construction of the hydroelectric dam on the Xingu River. How to convert orality into writing without committing a new violence? Born in Ijuí, Rio Grande do Sul, in 1966, Eliane Brum is a journalist, writer, and documentary filmmaker. She worked for 11 years as a reporter for the newspaper Zero Hora, in Porto Alegre, and for 10 years as a special reporter for Revista Época, in São Paulo. Since 2010, she has worked as a freelancer. Currently, she writes articles for the newspapers El País (Portuguese and Spanish) and The Guardian (English).
