We chose to ascend the evocative Sentiero delle Creste Alte (462A), a panoramic route that winds between sky and earth, offering incredible views of the Valdastico valley and the peaks of the Asiago plateau. A circular route that combines nature, history, and the tranquility of the Sanctuary of the Madonna del Summano. 📊 TECHNICAL DATA: Location: Schio / Piovene Rocchette (Vicenza), Vicenza Prealps. Starting Point: Colletto Grande Parking Lot (885 m). Distance: 8.86 km | Elevation Gain: 504 m. Total Time: 4 hours 56 minutes. Difficulty: E (Hiking). The Creste Alte trail requires a steady step but is accessible to anyone with a minimum level of fitness. Instead of following the traditional road, we take trail 462A. After about half an hour, at the fork, we bear left to follow the "high ridges": this is where the hike becomes exciting, with the trail running along the ridge, offering aerial views. In about two hours, we reach the imposing summit cross of Mount Summano. From here, a short descent takes us to the Sanctuary of the Madonna del Summano and a stop at the Baita Genzianella. For the return, we opted for the convenience of the paved road, completing a varied and never-overly-strenuous loop.
