All were individually hand-edited and corrected for any errors. The production took approximately three months. A total of 260 photographs were used. The folk songs we used as background music were performed by our young local artist, Mehmet Ali Böyükparmaksız, who is also from our village. He recorded them and sent them to me. I would like to thank all the people of Orzala and the village headman for their contributions. This slide is 25 minutes long. You will enjoy watching our folk songs and be moved by them. Dökuzyol (Orzala) Ayrancı Karaman Information about the village is also included in the slide. Please read. DOKUZYOL Population: 435 The village, located 9 km from the district, is bordered by Ayrancı to the east, Hüyükburun to the northeast, Karaağaç to the north, Sudurağı to the west, and Taşkale to the south. The village's former name is "Orzala," meaning "elderly woman." Orzala was once a farm in Divle. Later, it was named "Dokuzyol" because of the roads entering the village from nine directions. "Located on the left side of the road heading towards Karaman province, Dokuzyol village is charming and the only settlement in the world with a dam but no water. It is 9 km from Ayrancı." There is no permanent stream in the village. However, a pond (Dokuzyol Reservoir) was built to utilize floodwaters. Because the land is partially irrigated by the Ayrancı Dam, there are a few fruit orchards around the village. Despite the vastness of the agricultural land, productivity is low due to the lack of regular irrigation and rainfall. Therefore, livestock farming is highly valued in the village. The village's extensive pastures and cultivated areas have also contributed to the development of animal husbandry. "The carpets and handicrafts woven by the women throughout the winter also contribute to the village economy." Additionally, our village has produced many teachers, doctors, and intellectuals. Like other villages in Ayrancı, Orzala has experienced a significant emigration of its young population due to economic hardship. The average age of our village is around 60-65. Village History and Naming Formerly known as Orzala, the village was given the name "Dokuzyol" (Nine Road) because it had nine roads connecting it to neighboring villages, the district, and the city center. Originally a farm in Divle, it was established over time when some families settled here due to the difficulty of commuting... Edited January 26, 2018 Information Compiled by: Resul Civcik.
