Texas board mandates Bible passages in public schools

Texas education leaders voted today to mandate Bible stories and verses as required reading for more than 5.5 million public school students. The Republican‑led State Board of Education approved new curriculum standards that include adapted versions of the David and Goliath story for elementary grades and passages about Adam and Eve for older students.
