Spark Plug Thread Repair

Today we'll be discussing some various tools used to repair damaged spark plug threads. 1st off, I use a basic thread chaser to clean up the the spark plug threads on an aluminum cylinder head. Next, I use what's known as a back-tap spark plug thread chaser. This goes into the cylinder, past the damaged threads, then expands, allowing you to chase the threads from the inside out. Then, if the threads are too badly damaged, and a thread chaser cannot be used, I show you a basic heli-coil kit.
