A JV-1080 Appears! My First Decent House Track (Ep.3)
🎹 Get Gear I Use (affiliate): https://redir.love/07qE3HXS 🛒 Sample Packs & Presets: https://www.athousanddetails.com The Roland JV-1080 joins the studio — and it changes everything. In Episode 3 of the House Series, I bring in the JV-1080 — one of the most iconic rack synths of the 90s, responsible for countless house, techno, and dance tracks. I walk through the expansion cards (Techno card + House ROM on a flash card from China), demo some of its classic preset sounds, and start building a house track from scratch using sampled disco vocals on the Elektron Digitakt II. I also talk honestly about removing the TR-909 from the setup (my 909 samples are in my shop if you want them), replacing it with a Digitakt I for drums running through a DBX 166 compressor for that crunchy character, and the realities of working with limited space and gear choices. Plus: I built a custom Mac app (using Claude AI) that works like a digital turntable — downloading tracks, pitch-shifting, and chopping samples to load into the Digitakt II. It'll be open source soon. This is a real, unfiltered studio vlog — figuring things out day by day as a techno producer learning house music. This video is NOT sponsored.
