COMPILATION: Tornado destroys dozens of homes, rips through Oklahoma

A powerful outbreak of severe storms swept across northern Oklahoma on Thursday evening, producing at least one confirmed tornado that tore through Enid and Garfield County, leaving widespread destruction and prompting a major emergency response. Tornado impact and damage The tornado caused significant structural damage across Enid, particularly in residential neighborhoods and areas near Vance Air Force Base. Homes were destroyed or severely damaged, power lines were downed, and roads became hazardous due to debris. Officials reported that at least 40 homes were damaged, with some completely leveled. One of the hardest-hit areas was the Gray Ridge neighborhood, where the tornado’s power was especially evident. In addition to homes, infrastructure suffered major impacts—utility poles were knocked over, outages spread across the area, and sections of roadways were closed while emergency crews worked to clear debris and restore services. Dramatic footage and storm severity Videos captured by residents show a large, fast-moving tornado approaching and moving through Enid, highlighting the storm’s power and rapid development. The footage reveals a clearly defined funnel cloud and intense rotation, helping explain the extent of the destruction on the ground and how quickly conditions became dangerous for residents. Injuries, fatalities, and state response Despite the scale of the damage, officials reported no deaths following the tornado. Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt confirmed this during a briefing as cleanup efforts began. -------------------------------------------------- For more on the story: https://thenationaldesk.com/top-video... _______________ Stay up to date with our social media:   / komonews     / komonews     / komo4     / komo4seattle   Download our iOS App: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/komo-...
