May 31, 2026. Ruoqiang County, Bayingolin Mongol Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang -- Kuqa City, Aksu Prefecture. Today I traveled 800 kilometers to get to Kuqa so that I can set off smoothly on the Duku Highway tomorrow. Last September, I spent three days traveling from Dushanzi to Kuqa, traversing the Duku Highway. Tomorrow I will experience traversing it in reverse. I will be satisfied if I can travel this dreamlike highway twice. I pray for good weather and no road closures tomorrow, and for everything to go smoothly.
