Fire Ants Took Over… So I Tried This

Fire ants are a constant problem around our farm. After trying different approaches, this is what I decided to do next. Fire ants have taken over fence posts, pastures, buildings, and anywhere animals lay down. I’ve tried different control methods over time — including bait mixed with fertilizer — with mixed results. In this video, I walk through how I treated active fire ant mounds using a drench method while conditions were right, what I mixed, how I applied it, and what I observed afterward. I also talk about the pros and cons of using larger equipment, what seemed to work immediately, and what I may change next time. This isn’t a miracle cure or a one-time fix — it’s real property maintenance and an ongoing battle. If you deal with fire ants where you live, drop your experience in the comments so others can learn too. 🔑 KEYWORDS fire ant control, fire ants louisiana, fire ant treatment, fire ant mound drench, killing fire ants, farm pest control, pasture pest control, homestead pest control, rural property maintenance, tractor sprayer pest control, bifenthrin fire ants, southern fire ants, fire ants on farm, ant control pasture, land management louisiana ⏱️ CHAPTERS 0:00 Fire ants taking over 1:10 Conditions & timing 2:20 Choosing the drench method 3:00 Mixing the solution 5:20 Dye experiment 7:45 First mound treatment 10:30 Immediate observations 13:00 Equipment pros & cons 16:45 Checking treated mounds 19:00 What seems to be working 22:30 Final thoughts
