Westbury BELLS
In 1921 two additional bells were added to the original six making them the 3rd heaviest peal of eight in the World and creating the majestic sound we hear today. The tenor weighs 35 cwt. Westbury church noted in the Domesday book1086 on this site was most likely a wooden Saxon structure. The Normans established the first stone church here circa 1220. The faceless church clock was built in 1604 by the local blacksmith and is still fully functioning. "Tis mine each passing hour to tell. Tis thine to use it, ill or well".
