Caledonia by Dougie MacLean (Tenor Guitar Song - Zoom H2n Cover)

One of the greatest Scottish songs ever written and one of my favourite tenor guitar songs to play. Whether you are from Scotland or not... (always amazed me how many folk from Ireland connect with this song so closely as well) close your eyes, and it's hard not to feel the power in the words of Dougie Maclean. A truly magnificent piece of songwriting that few will ever come close to. I was fortunate enough to spend some time chatting with the amazing ‪‪@FabianHollandGuitar‬ recently who is just one of those guys that opens his mouth and wisdom flows out. After a bit of a personal break, I've decided to simplify things, move away from all the gear, and trying to be fancy back to the trusty Zoom H2n and a focus on the performance of the song. Thank you for your sage advice Fabian. 🎸 Ashbury tenor guitar (AT-24) solid sapele (GDAD Tuning) 🎥 iPhone 15 🎙️ ‪@ZoomSoundLab‬ H2n Handy Recorder ❓What is a tenor guitar? A tenor guitar is a 4-string guitar that is typically tuned in fifths, similar to a tenor banjo or mandola. Originally designed in the 1920s for tenor banjo players transitioning to guitar, it offers a unique sound that bridges the gap between traditional six-string acoustic guitar and smaller stringed instruments like the mandolin. ❓How is a tenor guitar tuned?: Is this video I have mine tuned GDAD ✍️ Dougie Maclean Caledonia Lyrics: Verse 1: I don't know if you can see the changes that have come over me, In these last few days I've been afraid that I might drift away. So I've been telling old stories, singing songs, that make me think about where I come from, That's the reason why I seem so far away today Chorus: Let me tell you that I love you and I think about you all the time, Caledonia you're calling me and now I'm going home. But if I should become a stranger you know that it would make me more than sad, Caledonia's been everything I've ever had Verse 2: I have moved and I've kept on moving, proved the points that I needed proving, Lost the friends that I needed losing, found others on the way. I have kissed the ladies and left them crying, stolen dreams, yes there's no denying, I have traveled hard sometimes with conscience flying somewhere in the wind. Verse 3: Now I'm sitting here before the fire, the empty room the forest choir, The flames that couldn't get any higher they've withered now they've gone. But I'm steady thinking, my way is clear and I know what I will do tomorrow, When the hands have shaken and the kisses flow then I will disappear. #tenorguitar #scottishmusic #caledonia "scottish songs youtube"
