Şirinevler Bahçelievler Istanbul Walking Tour | İstanbul Bahçelievler ve Şirinevler 2021 Bahçelievler (meaning "houses with gardens" in Turkish) is a large middle class residential suburb of Istanbul, Turkey, on the European side of the city. It is accessible from the D.100 that runs from the Istanbul airport to the Asian side of the city, covers 5% of Istanbul's land area and is home to over 570,000 people. Bahçelievler is the northern neighbour of Bakırköy, with a similar area. Traffic in these districts is congested, despite efforts undertaken in 2006 to relieve pressure with new roads, bridges and underpasses. Outlying districts such as Yenibosna or Soğanlı [tr] consist largely of factories, retail and small businesses (including many textile wholesalers), intermixed with extremely dense housing (typically, 6–8-story apartment buildings packed together in long rows) and run through with arterial roads. The infrastructure is poor, and the narrow streets are often choked with traffic. There are branches of four universities, many public and private schools and hospitals. Prominent landmarks include the Unverdi shopping center (on the site of the old Unverdi cinema, in the center of the district) and the Omur Patisserie/Café on the E5 at the entrance to Bahçelievler. In 2009, a large Carrefour supermarket opened on the E5 at Şirinevler. Transportation Bahçelievler is accessible via bus, minibus, dolmuş (share taxi), or car, primarily from the E5 highway, and municipal train. Transit duration depends on the hour, but has been greatly reduced with the introduction of dedicated Metrobus lanes; typical times from the major hubs in Eminönü and Mecidiyeköy run from 35–15 minutes, respectively, and under an hour to the Söğütlüçeşme Metrobus hub in Kadıköy. Atatürk International Airport is 10 minutes away by municipal train. Expedient crossing to Asia is available by sea-bus from the adjacent municipality of Bakırköy, with connections to Kadıköy and Bostancı. Climate Bahçelievler experiences a Mediterranean climate (Csa/Cs) according to both Köppen and Trewartha climate classifications, with cool winters and warm to hot summers. It is rather warm and dry compared to most places in Istanbul, it is classified as USDA hardiness zone 9a and AHS heat zone 4.[3] Şirinevler, İstanbul'un Bahçelievler ilçesine bağlı mahalle. 1964 yılında mahalle olmuştur. İlk yerleşimin Megaralıların İstanbul'a gelişlerinden itibaren sebze ve meyve bahçesi olarak kullanılan geniş ovadır. Tavukçu Deresinin Eski Bağlardan, Mahmutbey Yolunun altı, (Hürriyet Mahallesi kesimi) Eski E-5 yolu diye bilinen alanın iki tarafı Şirinevler Mahallesidir. Andrikonun Bahçesi olarak da bilinen bölgede 1923 yılındaki Nüfus mübadelesinden sonra Nifos olan yerin adı Siyavuşpaşa Çeşmesinin yanında bulunan Kocasinan Kulesi'nden esinlenerek Kocasinan Köyü Olarak değişmiştir. Nifos Köyü Teşkilat-ı Mahsusa'nın Rum ajanlarını yetiştirdiği köy olarak da bilinir. Mübadeleden sonra bölgeye Selanik'ten gelen muhacirler yerleştiler. Kocasinan 1950'lere kadar tek tük yerleşim görülürdü. O yılların sonunda 2-3 katlı geniş bahçeli bloklar yapıldı ve birçok aile Şirinevler'e yerleşti. 1980'lerin sonrasında yoğun bir şekilde Bayburt ve Erzurum'dan göç aldı. 1980'li yıllara kadar bahçeli, şirin bir mesken olan Şirinevler son derece nezih ve aile muhiti olarak bilinirdi.
