Rutherford Backscattering Spectroscopy (RBS) Analysis of a Thin Metal Film using SIMNRA
This is a training video for student using RBS in their research at Hope College. The energy spectrum of alpha particles scattering from a thin gold film on MgO substrate is analyzed as an example of the simplest RBS analysis problem that you can expect to encounter in your research. The use of atoms per square centimeter as a thickness measure is explained. Please consider clicking on "Like" so that I know what sort of content is being appreciated. I don't ask for support for developing this content, just the satisfaction of knowing that it is appreciated. None of the work in this video would have happened without the access to the Hope College Ion Beam Laboratory and the good work of Prof. Paul DeYoung. This demonstration uses SIMNRA M.
