One of the greatest losses in Turkish chess history, and perhaps even in world history, was Vugar Gashimov, who passed away at the young age of just 27. Gashimov, who achieved success at a very young age, was diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of 14. Having repeatedly fought for his life on operating tables, Gashimov was now battling a brain tumor. Despite all these health challenges, Gashimov managed to make a name for himself, albeit belatedly, worldwide, and with his sharp style, he became one of the world's most feared players. The challenges he faced were clearly reflected in his playing style. His most characteristic trait was that when he detected an opponent's weakness, he didn't abandon it and mobilized all his resources until the very end.
