During his career, he has represented Bombay and Indian Customs many times. His mission is to rescue women and children from the underbelly of Mumbai’s red-light areas, and he used sports as a way to venture into this. He gave up his service in Customs to serve his calling. Anson has rescued over 800 women and children from the red-light areas of India and rehabilitated many of them; today they are in the mainstream of society. In 2009, he received the CNN and Reliance Industries Real Heroes Award for Women Empowerment; when he accepted the award, he stated that his vision and mission were to turn red-light areas into green-light areas.
