Agriculture of the Cambodian people

Agriculture is one of the most important occupations that has been closely connected to the lives of Cambodian people since ancient times. Most Cambodians live in rural areas and depend on farming, gardening, livestock raising, and growing various crops to support their daily lives. Agriculture is not only a way to earn income, but it is also part of the culture and lifestyle of the Khmer people. In Cambodia, the rainy season is an important time for farmers. When the rain begins to fall, farmers start plowing their fields, planting rice, and preparing the land for other crops. Rice is the most important crop because it is the staple food of Cambodian people. Besides rice farming, people also grow vegetables and fruits such as chili, cucumber, papaya, bananas, and mangoes for family consumption and extra income. Today, agriculture in Cambodia is gradually improving. Some farmers have started using modern technology such as agricultural machinery, irrigation systems, and safe farming methods to increase productivity and crop quality. However, farmers still face many challenges, including climate change, droughts, floods, and unstable market prices for agricultural products. Despite these difficulties, Cambodian farmers continue to work hard with patience and hope. Agriculture plays a very important role in providing food, supporting family incomes, and contributing to the national economy. Therefore, everyone should support and encourage the agricultural sector so that farmers’ livelihoods can improve and Cambodia can continue to develop and prosper. #
