Located 25kms from the Syrian border, Harran which was once an ancient city is now the size of a small village. But that doesn’t mean there’s not much to see. Walking around you’ll find that the place is steeped in history as it was home to seven different civilisations. Even today, with excavations, archaeologists are finding all sorts of artefacts such as coins, statues, toys and perfumes! -------------------- Disclaimer: The idea that the Prophet Ibrahim A.S. may have been born in Urfa (50km from Harran) and may have lived in Harran for a short while on his way to Canaan, has been recorded in al-Bidyah wa al-Nihayah by Ibn Kathir. This is of course purely conjecture and as always, there are differences of opinions on this matter by 'Ulama (scholars).
