NEIL FINN 24/10/2010 ONLY TALKING SENSE Jazz Cafe London

Neil Finn opens his extremely entertaining intimate solo show at London's Jazz Café with the most fantastic song ever (penned by Neil and Tim Finn for the first Finn brothers album). I found it very interesting that he chose this particular track to open the night. To me it's like a reference to the Bush Hall gig from earlier in the year, as if he wanted to say "See, I CAN play it. I DO know the chords!". As far as I'm concerned, he could play it backwards and I'd still love it to pieces! I am however not entirely convinced that the first verse of this version is 100% correct. It sounds odd to me. What is wrong with it? I do have a picky nature after all... but maybe it's my camera or just me and my deteriorating sense of hearing. I saw 5 gigs in 10 days this month and last night the lady in front of me fainted (Oh no! Not again!), because the speakers next to us were causing earthquakes... If you don't know what to make of the Susan Boyle quote, it's a reference to the housewife-turned-singing-sensation's cover version of "Don't Dream It's Over" on the Oprah Winfrey show that week.
