Shane Kelly and Richard Clark - Session 4: Calf Injury in Ballet - Insights from The Royal Ballet Shane Kelly is the Clinical Director at The Royal Ballet. Prior to this role, Shane worked with British Athletics for 10 years, 5 of which as Head Physiotherapist. He has clinical interest in injury epidemiology and anything calf, foot and ankle. Richard is currently the clinical lead at The Royal Ballet and has worked there for 4 years. He was previously 1st team physiotherapist with Brentford Football Club in the English Championship. Richards’ role currently focuses on implementing long term rehabilitation pathways and in-season monitoring with The Royal Ballet. He has a clinical interest in foot and ankle problems and is currently examining posterior ankle impingement in ballet populations. The Calf Project is an international collaboration of health professionals working together to answer clinical questions on Calf Muscle Strain Injuries (CMSI). To date we have 200+ clubs and sporting organisations providing anonymised data on elite athletes who sustain a Calf Muscle Strain Injury.
