Diablo's Door: a drive across California's most mysterious mountain range
A 60-mile drive along State Route 130 offers a stunning introduction to California's little-known Diablo Range. Five times the size of Yosemite National Park, the range has healthy populations of elk, eagles, kit foxes, condors, and mountain lions. It could be vital to the survival of the region's native plants and animals in a warming world—if we can find ways to keep it wild. Featuring Seth Adams, Doug Bell, Joseph Belli, Sean Burke, Patrick Kolar, and Kip Will. Videography by Isara Krieger, Kendall Oei, and Cooper Ogden. Still images by Scott Hein, David Harper, and others. Music by Phil Heywood. Writing, production, and narration by Joan Hamilton. Special thanks to Bruce Hamilton, Laura Kindsvater, and Stanislaus County Parks and Recreation. A SAVE MOUNT DIABLO production adapted from the 83-minute film "Fire, Drought, Rain, and Hope."
