Thai Airways TG418 • TG622 : Flying from Kuala Lumpur to Osaka via Bangkok

Many years have passed since I've flown on Thai Airways. And many decades have passed since I've been to Thailand (even if it's only for transit). I was lucky to fly on two large wide-body aircraft on this long-awaited journey to Japan. 15 December 2023 My first leg began aboard Thai Airways on their 5 years old Airbus A350-900, HS-THQ, in their rare Star Alliance livery. My second leg was on their 2 years old Boeing 777-300ER, HS-TTA. The slow crawl of traffic meant we didn't have any time to waste once we got to KLIA Terminal 1. We quickly found the correct area and checked in before going through immigration and the simple round of security screening. Another round of security was at the entry of Gate C3, where the aircraft was already parked. Once boarding commenced, I settled in Seat 47K. The flight to Bangkok was a short one so I didn't need to get too comfy ahead of my connection, although, the cabin felt modern and the seat was great. Once the boarding announcements were made, we pushed back and taxied to the runway before taking off towards Bangkok. Despite how short the flight was, I was amazed by the quality of food that was served for supper. The food served were spaghetti carbonara with smoked sliced chicken and Thai fish curry with rice along with refreshing beverages. It was soon time for our descent into Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport. After touching down, and almost dozing off (which explained the cut in the video), we taxied to Gate E5. Duration: 1 Hour 59 Minutes Once we disembarked, we went through the area for transiting and quickly made our way to Gate D6. Boarding eventually began and I settled in Seat 46A, excited for our departure. After the boarding announcements were made, we got warned there would be a small delay. Then we pushed back and taxied to the runway before taking off towards Osaka. In the first half of the flight, we got some light refreshments, consisting of a sausage & mayo sandwich, and in the second half, a delicious breakfast was served. One option was chicken sausage with omelette and the other was fish with rice. The sun had risen as we neared our destination, and we promptly touched down at Kansai International Airport. We taxied to Gate 13 at Terminal 1 and disembarked before collecting our bags at Carousel 3. The flight was smooth and comfortable all the way through, but it was unfortunate that my IFE system was broken very early on in the flight and could not be fixed. Once outside, we collected our Japan Rail Pass and rode the HARUKA train to the city centre.
