My SEREKUNDA market experience: local life in The GAMBIA | cooking Traditional BENACHIN food | Pt1

Hello, welcome to my channel if you're new here for the first time. I travel around the world learning about different cultures and ways of life and I try my best to create content materials on my travels. In this video, I visited the west African country of The Gambia. Also known as The Smiling Coast of Africa. I spent few weeks in The Gambia: mainly in the capital city of Banjul, Barra and in a small fishing village called Gunjur! In this video, we visited Serekunda market, the biggest traditional food market in this West African country. The market section is divided into sections depending on the item of sale. The physical shops are stock with rice, gari, flour, oil, peanut, cleaning products and dried preserve goods. Inside the main market, vendors display their products on covered floors, wooden stalls or tables. They sell a variety of fruits, vegetables, attaya, many cooking ingredients to charcoal, flip-flops, make-up to phone accessories. The market has a vibrant and buzzing atmosphere, an opportunity to experience and witness the 'way of life' and tradition of the people. We visited the market to purchase cooking ingredients for cooking the one pot traditional dish, Benachin - also known as jollof.
