My husband had a VERY horrible childhood. He was trapped between a narcissistic mother who suffers from alcoholism and being bullied at school because of it. He went through hell growing up, and then he converted to the Amish lifestyle at the age of 19. The Amish community accepted him for the most part for a little while, then they treated him like other Amish, and he found himself being bullied again.
