Of Madalena Santiago's 63 years of life, 53 were spent in a prison without bars. A victim of so-called domestic slave labor, she thought many times about escaping, but simply had nowhere to go. She suffered constant humiliation. Her employer belittled her for being Black. She came to feel that her skin color was a problem. Today, freed from the shackles of slavery, she cries and says she doesn't like her skin color. She believes she doesn't deserve love and resists a hug from reporter Aguiar Júnior. She is convinced, finally accepts the hug, but still has a great trauma to deal with.
