Dealer Blamed Me After My RV Inspection Exposed the Truth

In this video, I’m sharing what happened during a pre-purchase inspection on a 2023 Roadtrek Class B van. My client specifically wanted the RV ready for inspection, including fully charged batteries, appliances running, and the ability to test the inverter and air conditioner system. But when I arrived, the van was sitting in the Arizona sun, not plugged into shore power, the refrigerator wasn’t on, and the batteries were not fully charged. That matters. When an RV is not properly prepared, I may not be able to fully verify important systems like the refrigerator, furnace, air conditioning, batteries, inverter, and propane system. And when a buyer sees “unable to verify” or “failed test” in an inspection report, that can absolutely change their decision. During this inspection, I found several concerns, including the refrigerator not cooling to proper temperature, the RV being too hot to properly test the furnace, exterior sealant and vent issues, a non-working fan, a window that would not open, an inverter overload when trying to run the A/C, and a propane pressure issue that caused the system to fail the pressure test. My client ultimately walked away from the deal. The next day, the dealership contacted me asking what happened. But here’s the truth: I don’t kill deals. I report what I find. If you are buying a new or used RV, especially from a dealership, please remember this: the RV needs to be fully ready for inspection. It should be hooked to shore power, water should be available, propane should be available, batteries should be charged, and appliances like the refrigerator should already be running before the inspector arrives.
