Press briefing by TMPK, ABKYW, GYO, AdiSU regarding Gumim Mize issue.

Today, on 25th May 2026, a joint emergency meeting was convened at the TMPK Office, Silapathar, Dhemaji District, Assam. The meeting was attended by Shri Oki Dai, President, Adi Bane Kebang Youth Wing (ABKYW); Shri Bomkar Gara, President, Galo Youth Organisation (GYO); Shri Tilak Doley, President, Takam Mising Porin Kebang (TMPK); and Shri Tani Topo, President, Adi Students Union (ADISU), along with their respective Central Executive Members. The primary agenda of the meeting was to discuss the alleged illegal detention of Shri Gumin Mize, President of Arunachal Anti-Drugs Association, at Lakhimpur Police Station, Assam. The house expressed serious concern over the manner of his detention and termed it a violation of due process and constitutional safeguards. The apex youth organisations of Abotani unanimously condemned the detention in the strongest terms. The house resolved to demand his immediate and unconditional release and urged the Government of Assam and Assam Police to uphold the rule of law, ensure transparency, and respect the dignity and rights of indigenous youth from Arunachal Pradesh. Any harassment of Arunachal youth outside the state will be treated as an attack on the collective dignity of Abotani descendants.
