Fairport Convention - Red and Gold - Birmingham Town Hall.1990.avi

Fairport Convention plays Ralph McTell's amazing epic song "Red and Gold" about a battle at Cropredy Bridge in 1644 during the English Civil War, very close to the place where FC have their annual Cropredy Festival. This song was written for FC, and they have performed it lots of times over the years, but this is the first time, I have managed to see a video of it. An excellent performance and a great sound recording, where each instrument and each voice stands out. http://www.fairportconvention.com/ If you want to hear Ralph's own very moving version of this song, there is a jaw dropping and goose bump producing live version on the album called "Songs for Six Strings II" (1992), which contain a fine selection of live performances.
