Fire Island Dance Festival 18 - Project Moves Dance Company "Human"
Project Moves Dance Company shocked the audience at Fire Island Dance Festival 18 as five young dancers began their number wearing signs with homophobic slurs. Committed to sharing a powerful message of human respect and acceptance, the Massachusetts-based dance company ultimate shed the insults and, in an act of emotional freeing, made a moving reveal. "Human" was choreographed by Rennie Gold and performed by Max Fineman, Matthew Gilmore, David Guzman, Jacob Guzman and Kyle Scanlan. Fire Island Dance Festival returned to Fire Island Pines for its 18th awe-inspiring edition, raising a record-breaking $374,260 through three weekend performances. Fire Island Dance Festival 18, the hottest charity event of the season in the Pines, was presented July 20-22 and was produced by and benefitted Dancers Responding to AIDS, a program of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
