Emotional mommy: The school made it seem as if my child beating was just a "simple thing" Three girls suspended after brutal bathroom attack at POS school, face expulsion — victim hospitalized, to undergo facial reconstruction and eye surgery Three teenage girls have been suspended from the South East Port of Spain Secondary School after a vicious, premeditated and filmed attack on a female schoolmate that left the victim hospitalized with a fractured nose, broken tooth, bloodclots in her eyes, and other injuries. Two of the girls are in form three while one is a form one student. The assault, which took place inside the school’s bathroom on Tuesday, June 3rd, 2025, was caught on video and widely circulated, showing the victim being ambushed and beaten by the trio while others stood by and filmed. The video ends with the girl on the bathroom floor, bleeding from her nose and mouth, clumps of her hair ripped out and scattered across the tiles, after one of the attackers delivered two final kicks to her face. The injured Form 5 student was later carried out of the washroom by other students and taken to hospital, where she remains warded in stable condition under close medical care. On Wednesday, June 4th, the three attackers and their parents were summoned to the school for a meeting. All three girls were suspended, as investigations continue. The calculated nature of the beating—and the decision by onlookers to record rather than intervene—has fueled national outrage. In response to this and other violent incidents in schools, Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar on Thursday June 5th, announced sweeping measures, declaring that students involved in serious acts of violence will face expulsion, arrest, and criminal charges. “We are no longer tolerating this madness,” said the Prime Minister. “Any child who believes they can engage in violence at school will face the full force of the law.” This latest attack has reignited urgent calls for zero-tolerance policies, stronger disciplinary enforcement, and more robust mental health support in schools.
