Today we explore Casa Shoemaker, a weekend home designed on a site with a significant slope. Instead of completely altering the site, the project takes advantage of the incline to create a functional, cost-effective house that is deeply integrated with the landscape. The house is organized around two clearly differentiated volumetric structures. The first volume functions as a large concrete base that emerges from the ground, supporting the house and giving it a solid and imposing presence. The concrete was left exposed to reduce finishing costs, minimize maintenance, and honestly express the construction system.
