Do The Weapons of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Hold Up in 2026?

The original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was the best selling video game of 2011, the eighth highest selling game of the entire 2010s by units sold tying with Red Dead Redemption 2, and I would say it had one of the hypest launches of the 2010s. It will be 15 years old this year, and since most of it is in Europe, it will be able to drink soon. However, in spite of the hype and cultural cache it had, the campaign and multiplayer were both seen as a step down from Modern Warfare 2. Honestly, it’s hard not to be seen as a step down when COD 4 was a masterpiece and revolutionised the FPS genre, and MW2 was… well, MW2. It had Cliffhanger. There’s nowhere to go but taking a step down, honestly. Were the guns a step down too though? Let’s find out. I got most of the footage this time, both in the campaign let’s play I did for this game and on Twitch for the rest.
