Tuintonen Festival sluit feestweek 700 jaar Watergang sfeervol af

In Watergang, the week of festivities celebrating its 700th anniversary concluded in a special way on Saturday, June 6, with the annual Tuintonen Festival. The intimate music festival, which has since become a firm tradition in the village, brought residents and visitors together for an afternoon filled with music, socializing, and hospitality. Spread out along Dorpsstraat, residents opened their gardens for a varied program of performances. Musicians from diverse backgrounds made an appearance and performed a wide range of styles. This year, the festival focused on folk music, with influences from Africa, Ireland, Poland, and Eastern Europe, among others. In addition, there were performances by classical choirs, and Dutch music also resonated through the village. The small-scale setup, with performances in atmospheric gardens, created an intimate and convivial atmosphere characteristic of Watergang. Visitors could stroll from garden to garden at their leisure, enjoying music, conversation, and local delicacies along the way. At the church, hamburgers, homemade cakes, and drinks were offered, among other things, contributing to the festive atmosphere. Despite a few showers, the village remained pleasantly busy. The weather forecasts posed no obstacle for the organizers and visitors, who were determined to make it a successful day. The festival concluded with a festive finale at the village hall De Nieuwe Boet, where the day was rounded off together. Tuintonen is made possible by the efforts of over forty volunteers, consisting of both long-time and new residents of the village. Their commitment and hospitality form the core of the event and make the festival special year after year. With a successful edition of Tuintonen, Watergang looks back on a memorable conclusion to a wonderful week of festivities in honor of the village's 700th anniversary.
