It isn't really about fantasy monsters, nor role-play gaming, but it is more an exercise in speculative biology, with a bit of light physics thrown in. How could a one-eyed creature judge distance? I suggest seven methods, all of which use the eye itself. You could add sonar and the like, but that, I considered, wasn't playing the game.
