I love running to her entire epic 17 minute version—it’s an absolute powerhouse of a song. I'm excited to have a new generation discover this song. As a lifelong fan of both Donna Summer and Beetlejuice, this blend of an iconic song with one of my favorite movies is so cool! The legendary Giorgio Moroder, who produced the song, had the brilliant idea for Donna to remake a classic from the '60s. One day, while driving, he heard Richard Harris's original version of 'MacArthur Park' on the radio and knew it would be perfect for Donna. He was right—it became a massive hit in 1978! I've been a huge Donna Summer fan ever since I was a kid, and 'MacArthur Park' has always held a special place in my heart. It was written by the legendary composer Jimmy Webb, who also penned another favorite of mine, Johnny Maestro’s 'The Worst That Could Happen,' originally performed by The 5th Dimension. Webb also wrote their classic 'Up, Up and Away.'
