In this Photographic Expression Seminar, I'll answer a question I've received from many readers: "Which metering mode do you use?" Now that mirrorless cameras are mainstream, the way we think about determining exposure has changed significantly since the days of OVF (SLR) cameras. Why do I exclusively use "multi-metering" and "highlight-weighted metering"? And why have I stopped using the once-important "spot metering" and "center-weighted metering"? I'll explain the reasons for this, along with combining them with the most powerful setting of the mirrorless era: "M mode + ISO auto." This talk is about the "democratization" of photographic expression, freeing photographers from technical calculations and allowing them to focus on their "feel."
