Over time, Punk was the rebellious response to the rock music that was emerging during the early seventies, but also to the political and social situation that the UK was going through. Between 1975 and 1977, the golden years of the genre, there were many important British bands. Probably the ones that are usually on the lips of many are the Sex Pistols and The Clash, because of the cultural impact they will have on the world, influencing more than one band musically. Tackling the history of one of the most innovative groups of the seventies is not an easy task, since many times the band members themselves tried to keep their lives private and left many mysteries loose and unresolved. However, thanks to several authors like Pat Gilbert, Jon Savage or Marcus Gray they have managed to investigate in a perfect way the life of each of the members of The Clash and the punk period, which has been a real enigma for many, from their birth until their tragic separation in 1985.
