Easington is a place of two halves, and the gap between them is massive. I wanted to see the real Easington, so I started at the top of the hill where the big, modern houses are popping up. But as you head down towards the Colliery, the atmosphere completely shifts. You go from "new money" vibes straight into the heart of the old mining community. I spent the day chatting with locals to see how they feel about the area today, grabbed some food, and went on a mission to find the original filming locations from Billy Elliot.
