The new landmark in Nagoya's Sakae district, "The Landmark Nagoya Sakae," will have its grand opening on June 11th. The commercial facility, "HAERA," spans from the second basement floor to the fourth floor above ground. So, what's it like inside? We were greeted by Keiichi Ono, president of J. Front Retailing, the mastermind behind "HAERA." (Kunihiko Oishi, Anchorman) "It's finally complete!" (Keiichi Ono, President of J. Front Retailing) "It opens on June 11th. It's attracting a lot of attention, and we're receiving various interview requests, but I've heard that the only program I'll be fully attending to is CBC TV's 'Chant!'" When President Ono appeared live on CBC TV's New Year's special program, "Chubu Business Leaders' New Year's Salon," in January of this year... (President Ono) "Unfortunately, I can't reveal the details yet, but I can promise that it will definitely be a commercial facility with a new kind of appeal." Nagoya's symbol on the wallpaper... World-renowned artist designs the space Approximately five months have passed since then... We were given a special tour by President Ono. (President Ono) Q. Are there any shachihoko (mythical sea creatures) on this wall? "Shachihoko (mythical creature resembling a dolphin or a mythical creature), kishimen noodles, and the old Bank of Japan, perhaps? (In Sakae) Our Nagoya base was originally located here." At the entrance, you're greeted by a chandelier and wallpaper art piece created by world-renowned artist Tatsu Nishino, who hails from Aichi Prefecture. (President Ono) "The entire space has been constructed as a work of art." Rare even on a global scale! Four Brands All Together Upon Entering… (Oishi) "It's a bright, spacious area. The approach has a dazzling atmosphere." (President Ono) "The first floor is based on white and gold, and the structure is designed to give a sense of openness." Even the pillars have a distinctive feature… (President Ono) "We used pottery fired in Tokoname. We've incorporated the best of Nagoya and Aichi throughout. It's a facility where you can feel art subtly." The luxurious space on the first floor houses four luxury brands, including Cartier and Louis Vuitton, each with a large, maisonette-type store that extends its sales floor to the second and third floors. (President Ono) Q. Are the high-end brand stores noteworthy? "Four brands (Cartier, Chanel, Hermes, Louis Vuitton) are gathered here, and it's rare to find such large stores in one building anywhere in the world." An Art-Conscious Space: "We want you to enjoy every moment." The entire space inside the building is like a gallery. Various works of art adorn the space. (President Ono) Q. It's not just a space for moving around, is it? "It's important that people enjoy every moment they spend here." Here, you can also purchase artwork by scanning a QR code. (President Ono) "As it's a state-of-the-art facility, HAERA is a space that is very conscious of art." A leading "high-end yakiniku restaurant" from Tokyo makes its first appearance. We also focused on the gourmet floor on the 4th floor. We visited "YORONIKU NAGOYA." (YORONIKU Kuwahara VANNE Representative Hideyuki) "Yakiniku grilled for you" YORONIKU, a leading course yakiniku restaurant in Tokyo, has opened its first location outside of Tokyo. The Tokyo location is extremely famous, attracting customers from all over the world. (Representative Kuwahara) "This is called 'Silk Loin.' It's one of our signature dishes." The staff quickly sears the Wagyu beef, which offers a smooth texture, the sweetness of the fat, and the deep flavor of the lean meat. This signature dish features bite-sized portions of rice wrapped around the meat. (President Ono) "I'm done with work for today...it's incredibly delicious." (Oishi) "It melts in your mouth quickly. And yet, you can still taste the meat...and above all, it's silky! It melts in your mouth." Before the opening... What are President Ono's thoughts? "YORONIKU NAGOYA" will offer a limited-time course for 8,800 yen, featuring silk loin and special sirloin, to celebrate its opening. There are 82 seats in total, including 13 private rooms. It's also recommended for celebrations. (Representative Kuwahara) Q. Why did you decide to open your first store in the Tokai region? "It's right in the heart of Sakae, Nagoya, with the Conrad Hotel above and four super-brand stores. There was no reason to refuse. Even in Tokyo, there wasn't a building like this." We spoke again with President Ono about his thoughts on developing a new landmark in Sakae, Nagoya. (President Ono) "The purpose of creating HAERA has always been to make Sakae a destination that attracts people from all over the world. We want it to be a facility that draws people from a wide area to Sakae, and ultimately benefits the entire city of Nagoya."
