Brownie Throwdown
http://www.amateurkitchen.tv / amateurkitchen / amateurkitchen1 http://www.ifood.tv/amateurkitchen The brownie throwdown started when Grandpa Luken knew that there was at least one brownie recipe in our family to share with all of you. Low and behold he found 2. So of course Maria and I thought it would be fun to do a little brownie throwdown with Grandpa Luken's mom-Martha brownie recipe and Grandpa Luken's sister-Lois' recipe. See which one we liked the best and long with a few extra critics. GREAT GREAT GRANDMA LUKEN'S BROWNIES Makes: 15 brownies Prep: 10 minutes Bake: 30 minutes Cooling Time Ingredients: 2 cups Sugar 1 cup Butter (softened) 4 Eggs 1 tsp Vanilla Extract 1/2 cup Cocoa Powder (unsweetened) 1 cup Hot Water 2 cups Flour 1/2 tsp Baking Powder 1/2 tsp Salt 1 cup Walnuts (optional) Directions: Preheat oven to 350˚F. In a large bowl combine the sugar, softened butter and eggs, beat together until well combined. Add in the vanilla extract, cocoa powder, flour, baking powder and salt. Start the mixer and slowly add in the hot water while the mixers are going. (If you pour it in too fast the eggs will scramble.) Stir in the walnuts after all the ingredients are combined. Spray a 13x9 baking dish with non-stick cooking spray and evenly pour in the brownie batter. Place baking dish into the oven and bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Take the brownies out of the oven and cool completely, then add on the chocolate frosting. (recipe below) Serve and Enjoy!
