The coronavirus crisis is forcing many companies to put their employees on short-time work. But what exactly does that mean? We'll explain it to you in the next 4 minutes. During the coronavirus crisis, the German government has decided on the following special features for short-time work: 1. In order to apply for short-time work benefits, at least one-third of the workforce no longer needs to be affected by a reduction in working hours, as was previously the case. Now, just ten percent is sufficient. 2. Social security contributions, previously borne solely by the employer, will now be fully or partially covered by the state, depending on the case. 3. Temporary workers are also entitled to short-time work benefits during the crisis. 4.
