How to Do a Back Carry in a Tula (or other SSC) using a Superman Toss
This video shows how to do a back carry in a Tula Baby Carrier (or other Soft Structured Carrier) using a superman toss. This method works with most brands of soft structured carrier (SSC). The carrier shown is a Tula, but this works with an Ergo, Beco, Boba, etc. The video shows how to do a superman toss to put baby on the back and then how to make sure that the panel covers baby's back. It also shows how to get the panel nice and high on baby's back and how to tighten the carry. You should be certain that your baby fits in the carrier and has consistent and strong head support before trying a back carry. If baby fits in the carrier, the panel does not come up any higher than the bottom of baby's ear. Baby's entire head and face should be visible above the panel. The panel should also not extend beyond the crook of baby's knee. If baby cannot bend their knees freely or the carrier panel has to be bunched in order for baby to freely bend their knees, then the carrier does not fit. If you aren't comfortable doing a superman toss, it can really help to learn with a doll before trying it with your baby. This video shows how to superman toss slowly so that you can practice with a doll. The method shown in this video works with a younger baby, but should only be used with a baby who fits in the carrier and has consistent and strong head support: • Beginner Back Carrying: How to do a Super... This video shows the same superman toss method shown in the video. The method in the video works well when your child is facing away from you.
